And a week later, it's been confirmed. I do have Keratoconus.
Good News:
It might not get any worst. It's also at the bottom of the eye so that's why I can see still fine and the whole image for that eye isn't distorted. I can sleep for the operation of the worse case senerio which would be the cornea transplant.
I'd also be a good candidate for one because the new one wouldn't get any worse since the effected area would be removed. I also only have it in the right eye and it's normally in both. This is good because my left eye picks up the slack and does some correcting to remove any visual errors caused by the coned cornea of the right eye
Bad News:
It could spread or just happen in the left eye which would suck and I probably would need to the transplant and I wouldn't be able to drive until I do.
The intacts are a temporary fix because they actually go in the cornea. Since mine is thinning out and it would be like trying to put a lense in the edge of a sheet of paper. There is a chance if it's done wrong that it'll pop out of the eye or just extrude or go back into the eye, I don't know who would want that unless it gave you xray vision or something.
I also have to go back every year or so and check on my eyes to make sure it's not getting worse or showing up in the other eye. I don't mind because my insurance picks up the tab (80 bucks for an eye exam).
